(Hawkins, Texas)—Jarvis Christian College will host East Texas Workforce Solutions on campus to assist members of the public interested in applying for state funding to attend classes in Jarvis’ Adult and Continuing Education Program.

Funding assistance will be available through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WOIA) and the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) program for those who qualify.

Orientation sessions are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, and again from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, in the Meyer Building on the Jarvis Christian College campus at U.S. Hwy 80 East at PR 7631 in Hawkins, Texas. Applications will be completed online.

Due to COVID-19, masks and temperature screening will be required.

Jarvis Christian College provides eight-week programs resulting in certifications that are WIOA and TAA approved. Completing these programs successfully provides clients with expanded employment opportunities for those interested in becoming a medical administrative assistant (CMAA certification), a billing and coding specialist (CBCS certification), a Microsoft Office Specialist in Excel and Word (MOS Excel & Word certification) or a cybersecurity forensics specialist.

“Sharpening job skills is an important step for anyone interested in preparing for a new career or being more effective in their current job,” said Dr. Dorothy Langley, dean of the Jarvis Christian College Adult and Continuing Education Program. “Grant funding through WIOA and TAA makes that decision easier and opens more employment opportunities to who have successfully completed their certifications.”

Enrollment is open. Please call Dr. Dorothy Langley at (903) 730-4890, extension 2904 or by email at dlangley@jarvis.edu. Each eight-week certification program fee is $600 which includes instruction, learning materials and the exam.

Equal Opportunity Employer/Program auxiliary aids and services are available to individuals with disabilities upon request. Deaf, hard-of-hearing or speech-impaired clients may contact Relay Texas at (800) 738-2989 (TTV) and 711(voice).
