Jarvis Christian University President Dr. Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt hosted Texas House of Representatives member Cole Hefner for lunch on campus Wednesday, October 23. Hefner is a native East Texan who is running for reelection as the Republican representative for House District Five which he has represented since 2017. Wood County, where Jarvis is located, is in District Five, along with Camp County, Rains County, Titus County, Upshur County, and parts of Smith County.
Hefner and Lee-Pruitt discussed partnership opportunities and how best to expand educational opportunities for East Texas residents.
Hefner serves as a member of the Public Education Committee, Ways & Means Committee, Select Committee on Educational Opportunity and Enrichment, and the Calendars Committee.
