Support Jarvis Strong

Dear Alumni and Friends of Jarvis Christian College:

Since 1912, Jarvis has transformed the lives of students from admission to graduation to productive citizens. The Jarvis experience continues to make the American Dream attainable.

The College is currently facing challenges, including an aging infrastructure and students who cannot afford the cost of attendance. Many leave after accumulating large deficits, despite scholarships and work programs we designed to assist students with reducing or eliminating their debt. These uncollected funds force some of the college’s needs to go unaddressed. Since Jarvis is a private, tuition-driven liberal arts institution, your gifts make it possible for many to attend. I invite your investment in the 5,000 Jarvis Strong Campaign to sustain the college’s long-term viability.

Why invest? Despite our challenges, Jarvis produces students who thrive in the classroom and in their professions. They attend Ivy League schools, law school, medical school, major research institutions and work at Fortune 500 firms. We continue to produce outstanding teachers, social workers and ministers. Our Enactus club placed first in a national food safety competition sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, defeating schools like Rutgers, the University of Alabama and the University of Arizona. We were named a United Nations Millennium Campus - one of two HBCUs worldwide - because of a student-led diabetes awareness campaign. Moreover, recently a group of our students was featured in the newspaper and on television for their research for a cure for cancer.

Jarvis Strong is crucial to ensuring that we continue to make the American Dream a reality. Our objective is to recruit 2,500 alumni to invest at least $250 above current giving. Additionally, we ask 2,500 friends of the College to match the alumni giving, over current giving. If you have not given lately, we encourage you to make a donation today. Our goal is to generate $1.25 million to invest in campus infrastructure and scholarships. Please join the Jarvis Strong Campaign and send your check of $250 or more before June 30th. You also may invest by debit or credit card at jarvis.edu/donate.

Thanking you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,

Lester C. Newman
President
