Disability Support Services
The Disability Support Services is an advocate for students with disabilities and seeks to assist the students with reasonable and appropriate accommodations outlined by the American Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The appropriate academic support, deemed reasonable and necessary by law, will be provided to student with documented disabilities.
Jarvis Christian University has no specific program for students with disabilities; however, the University provides students with documented disabilities reasonable accommodations to provide all students with equal access to academic programs. The University cannot lower program requirements; provide individualized supervision; or make modifications or substitute courses. Additionally, requirements that area essential to earning a degree cannot be waived.
Accommodations may include permission to tape record lectures and arranging special testing locations. Accommodations are provided on an individual basis following presentation (by the student) and assessment (by the University) of documentation that confirms the presence of a disability that causes a substantial limitation as defined under Section 504 and the ADA.
*Reasonable accommodations are not retroactive. It is the students responsibility to contact the ADA Coordinator

Students will do the following to request accommodations:
1. Self-Identify
-Students should identify after admissions
2. Documentation
-Student will provide documentation of their disability to the ADA Coordinator
-Documentation cannot be more than 3-years old, must be from a professional with appropriate training licensure, and credentials related to the area specific to that disability.
-Student must complete a Student Authorization to Disclose Information Form after meeting with the ADA Coordinator
3. Each semester, the student requesting reasonable accommodations will notify the ADA Coordinator for continued need, and re-sign a new Student Authorization to Disclose Information Form.
ADA Coordinator will do the following:
1. Review documentation for accommodations
2. Interview Student
3. Make a determination based on interview and documentation
If approved, the ADA Coordinator will do the following:
1. Inform the student of reasonable accommodations
2. Will provide a notice of reasonable accommodations to the student’s assigned faculty
