Dear Students:
I hope all is going well with you and your families; and I am sure that you are ready to return to Jarvis Christian College. We are ready for you to return as well; however, we are carefully monitoring the COVID-19 situation to ascertain the possibility of opening for the Fall 2020 Semester.
Nevertheless, please know that we are making plans to ensure that the campus is safe and that we have the measures in place to keep you safe. We have purchased masks, hand sanitizers, thermometers, and cleaning products. Additionally, we have placed sanitizer dispensers in all buildings on campus. We are doing a deep cleaning of the residence halls and the classrooms. We are purchasing partitions for residence halls that have community bathrooms and instituting the appropriate measures to ensure social distancing in the halls. We are putting these processes in place to ensure that you are able to continue your education, safely, here at Jarvis Christian College, should we have the opportunity to open in the Fall.
If we are unable to hold face-to-face classes in the Fall, our goal is to ensure that you have the optimal virtual learning experience. As such, we will provide those in need with laptops and Internet connections. Based upon a recently conducted survey, many of you indicated that you did not have access to technology and WIFI. Therefore, we are making both the laptops and Internet capabilities available to students on a first-come, first-serve basis, pending that you have registered for the 2020 Fall Semester. These laptops will be available to you whether or not you are attending classes on campus or virtually at home. Moreover, to accommodate you during this transition, we have enhanced the bandwidth from 1 gigabit to 5 gigabits and we have improved the virtual learning experience by including online tutorials, mentoring, and support services.
