HAWKINS, TX — Reverend Frederick D. Berry, Sr., a proud graduate of Jarvis Christian University, is a dynamic and purpose-driven pastor, educator, and entrepreneur whose leadership continues to transform both congregations and communities. Currently serving as the Senior Pastor of New Days Community Church in Tyler, Texas, Rev. Berry exemplifies a model of ministry rooted in spiritual growth, social justice, innovation, and unwavering service.

Since accepting the call to shepherd New Days Community Church, Rev. Berry has led the congregation into a season of revitalization and impact. Under his leadership, the church has expanded its ministry both internally and externally. One of the most significant hallmarks of his tenure has been the emphasis on community outreach. Collaborating with local ministries and service organizations, the church now feeds individuals facing hunger and homelessness up to three times per week. This mission-driven approach reflects Rev. Berry’s deep belief in “ministry on purpose”—meeting the real needs of the people with compassion, consistency, and dignity.

Internally, Rev. Berry has guided the church into the 21st century through comprehensive technology upgrades. He has overseen the implementation of a church management system, enhancements to the church’s online presence, the launch of a church app, and the integration of multiple electronic giving platforms. These technological improvements have not only improved efficiency but also expanded the church’s reach and engagement with members and the wider community.

Rev. Berry also manages the ongoing development and care of the church’s 73,000-square-foot worship and ministry center, ensuring that it remains a vibrant and functional space for worship, outreach, and discipleship. His leadership reflects a balance of visionary planning, pastoral care, and practical administration.

Before serving at New Days Community Church, Rev. Berry was deeply involved at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, affectionately known as “The Mount,” for twenty years under the leadership of Pastor Leonard O. Leach. There, he played a pivotal role in multiple ministries, including Pastor of Adult Discipleship, Director of The Shepherd’s Ministry, and in the pastoral counseling and accounting departments. With a membership of over 5,000, his experience at The Mount honed his ability to care for large congregations while maintaining a heart for individual needs.

Rev. Berry’s ministry began at an early age. Since he was thirteen years old, he has served in church leadership and pastoral roles, guided by a simple yet profound philosophy of ministry: (1) Win lost souls to Christ; (2) Empower Christian growth in every area of life; and (3) Liberate the oppressed. This mission has remained a constant across his decades of service.

In addition to his pastoral ministry, Rev. Berry is bi-vocational, having worked in accounting and finance in corporate America for over 30 years. He is also an entrepreneur, with ownership in The Berry Best, LLC and Real Nice Sites, LLC, leveraging his business acumen to support community and economic development.

Rev. Berry holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in computer science from Jarvis Christian University and a Master of Theological Studies from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University, with a focus in Christian education and pastoral care.

A leader, servant, and visionary, Rev. Frederick D. Berry, Sr. continues to embody the Jarvis Christian University spirit—one of faith, purpose, and commitment to uplifting others through education, ministry, and community transformation.
