On behalf of the Virginia State University's Women's LeadHERship Institute, the 2024 Women Leaders @ HBCUs Conference Award Committee honored two JCU women leaders at their recent national summit titled: Straightening Our Crowns to Cultivate Transformative Leaders: Unsung Heroines of HBCUS.

JCU President Dr. Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt received the Phenomenal Woman Award.

JCU Director of Counseling Services Kishia C. James received the Dream Keepers Award. James was recently promoted to the position of JCU Interim Vice President for Student Services.

The awards luncheon was held at the Multi-Purpose Center at the Virginia State University (VSU) campus. VSU Executive Director of Strategic Faculty Initiatives and Innovation and associate professor of Educational Leadership Linda Noel-Batiste said, "We eagerly await your participation and the opportunity to celebrate these extraordinary women who are leading the way at HBCUs."
