Jarvis Christian University has named Christopher Ortiz, Jr. as the new Director of Residence Life. Ortiz graduated with his bachelor's degree in physical education in 2020 from Jarvis, then completed his master's degree in higher education leadership from Lincoln University of Missouri in Jefferson City, Missouri

He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration Leadership at Maryville University of St. Louis. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated, Phi Beta Chapter, and was the National Pan Hellenic Council president his senior year. He played basketball for the Jarvis Bulldogs and is a former Mr. Jarvis 2019-2022. The Dallas native enjoys bowling, golf, and pursuing his educational goals. He was previously employed at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where he worked in residential life. 

Jarvis provides a culturally rich educational environment where students are empowered to achieve their career goals through an inclusive and diverse academic experience that prepares them for a life of significance.
