Jarvis Christian University will induct 11 former Bulldog athletes/coaches into the Jarvis Athletic Hall of Fame for the various sports they participated in while students. The induction will be at the annual 2024 Athletic Hall of Fame Enshrinement luncheon on Saturday, October 12, at 11:30 a.m. in the E. W. Rand Center on the Jarvis Christian College main campus, U.S. Hwy 80 and PR 7631. Ticket prices are $75 per person for the luncheon. Call Institutional Advancement at (903)730-4890, ext. 3003. Being inducted for the following sports are the following former athletes and coaches:
- Baseball: Edwin Earl Woods of Irvington, Alabama, Class of 1976
- Men’s Basketball: the late Gregory “Tree” Henderson, Class of 1989
- Women’s Basketball: Mae Peoples Grant of Marshall, Texas, Class of 1986
- Volleyball: Shalonda Hampton Reason of Alvarado, Texas, attended 1989-91
- Track and Field: Dr. James L. McBride of Desoto, Texas, Class of 1994
- Women’s Softball: Shalonda Callis-Turner of LaMarque, Texas, Class of 1988
- Football: Keith R. Thompson, ’62, of Midland, Texas, Class of 1962
- Dance: Leslie Threat-Jones of Chicago, Illinois, Class of 1984
- Cheerleading: Sunja Robertson Anderson of Conroe, Texas, Class of 1981
- Cheerleading: Kendra Tuck of Tyler, Texas, Class of 1989
- Coaching: the late Charles M. Holmes, Class of 1960
Current Jarvis athletes will introduce the inductees.
