Jarvis Christian University has added a new faculty member for the 2024-2025 academic year to the Academic Division of Humanities, Arts, and Sciences.
Assistant Professor of Mass Communications Dr. Randrika (pronounced "Ran-DREE-kah") Henderson is new to Jarvis and has the distinction of being Jarvis' only full-time Mass Comm faculty member. She earned her PH.D. in Media and Communication in 2022 from The University of Southern Mississippi, a Carnegie R1 institution in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Her research emphasis was media representation of African American women and took classes in public relations. Her current research interests include the study of African American women's media representation in Christian settings.
Her Master of Arts Degree in Communication Studies is from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
She has taught various communications courses at her undergraduate alma mater, Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication in 2015.
Besides teaching at Jackson State, she has also taught at USM, Tougaloo College, and Hinds Community College. She also has worked with a diverse group of middle school students to build academic, social, and speaking skills to prepare for college.
