Jarvis Christian University is proud to announce the return of its highly impactful I-RISE Summer Bridge Program (Interdisciplinary Research Infusion into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education), designed to prepare the next generation of STEM leaders. This four-week residential summer program will take place from June 2 to June 27, 2025, and is open to all rising 12th graders and graduating high school seniors who have a strong interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Funded by the National Science Foundation, the I-RISE Summer Bridge Program at Jarvis offers an immersive, hands-on learning experience where students will explore real-world scientific research under the mentorship of professional STEM scientists and educators. The program is designed to strengthen college readiness and build confidence in students through engaging academic instruction, research projects, and community-building activities.
Participants in the 2025 I-RISE cohort will benefit from:
-
Free training by real STEM scientists
-
College preparedness workshops
-
Free room and board during the program
-
A $500 stipend upon successful completion
“This program is about access and opportunity,” said Dr. Antoinesha L. Hollman, Director of the I-RISE Program. “We are excited to open the doors of our laboratories and classrooms to high school students who may not otherwise see themselves in STEM. By combining rigorous academic preparation with mentorship and campus engagement, we help students see that a future in science and technology is not only possible—it’s within their reach.”
Throughout the four weeks, students will conduct experiments, attend seminars, collaborate on group projects, and learn how STEM is applied across industries. They will also develop essential skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, public speaking, and academic writing—all while gaining a taste of college life on the beautiful Jarvis Christian University campus in Hawkins, Texas.
The I-RISE program doesn’t just focus on academics. It emphasizes the holistic development of students through leadership training and cultural enrichment activities that create lasting friendships and a supportive learning environment. Students leave the program more confident, better prepared for college, and inspired to pursue careers in fields where diversity and innovation are needed most.
The application deadline is Friday, May 23, 2025, and space is limited. Interested students are encouraged to scan the QR code on the program flyer or contact Dr. Hollman directly to apply or learn more.
