Jarvis Christian University will inaugurate its new president during an investiture ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21 in the E. W. Rand Center, Anthony Robinson Varsity Gymnasium. The public is invited.
Dr. Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt was unanimously selected by the board of trustees to assume the 13th presidency of the 112-year-old institution and took office July 1. She has served Jarvis for 11 years as the institution’s provost, overseeing many initiatives including expanded online course offerings, adult education and certifications, graduate degree programs, partnerships with other educational institutions and more.
Her investiture kicks off publicly with a student-led Pre-Investiture Worship Service at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Smith-Howard Chapel. Students from the Student Ministry Association have planned the worship service in Dr. Lee-Pruitt’s honor.
Dr. Lee-Pruitt’s official Investiture Service is at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, in the E. W. Rand Center, Anthony Robinson Varsity Gymnasium. Delegates from other educational institutions and university faculty and staff will be in full academic regalia. Dr. Lee-Pruitt will be adorned with her new official chain-of-office university medallion bearing her name. Immediately following the investiture ceremony, a celebration luncheon for invited guests will be held at President Pruitt’s Pavilion on the grounds of the Rand Center.
An Evening with Madame President featuring Comedian Shed G with musical entertainment by the Alter Ego Band will begin at 7 p.m. in President Pruitt’s Pavilion.
