The Jarvis Christian University campus was transformed from a tranquil summer haven into a busy activity hub this week as students returned to campus for the 2024- 2025 academic year. Today, was the first official chapel service in the Smith-Howard Chapel, with students, faculty, and staff filling the pews to hear a message that "God is Real" from Campus Chaplain Sedaric L. Dinkens. Students, faculty, and staff sensed the excitement and anticipation of the new academic year as the choir performed inspiring worship music for the first time in the new semester. New Director of Choral Activities Donald Aaron, III, arrived this summer to revamp the music program. He and the choir members have met this past week to rehearse and prepare for this morning's chapel service. Aaron reportedly has plans to build a new, Southern gospel music choir this semester.
This week students are attending their new classes, meeting with their professors and classmates for the first time. First-year students explored their new classes with awe and trepidation for the first time yesterday. Many experienced orientation sessions last week and attended welcome events, campus tours, informational sessions, and social mixers designed to ease the transition to university life and foster community.
