HAWKINS, TX — Jarvis Christian University is thrilled to announce that internationally acclaimed saxophonist Theresa Grayson will open the highly anticipated Pioneer Hall of Fame and Preeminence Awards Gala on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the E.W. Rand Center. Known for her smooth jazz stylings and electrifying stage presence, Grayson will set the tone for an unforgettable evening of celebration, legacy, and musical excellence.

The Pioneer Hall of Fame and Preeminence Awards Gala is one of Jarvis Christian University’s premier events, held annually during Homecoming to recognize outstanding alumni, benefactors, and community leaders who embody the mission and values of the university. This year’s event is especially notable, featuring a star-studded lineup including the legendary Eddie Levert as headliner and Klarc Naomi as the VIP Reception performer.

Grayson, a Houston-based artist with a growing international fan base, is celebrated for her fusion of R&B, jazz, gospel, and pop, creating a musical experience that is both soothing and soul-stirring. With a background in both music and education, Grayson brings a depth of artistry and purpose to every performance. She has shared the stage with some of the industry’s most recognized names, including Kirk Whalum, Marion Meadows, and Ronnie Laws, and has released several chart-topping albums including It’s All About You, Live2Love, and Now or Never.

“We are honored to welcome Theresa Grayson to the Jarvis Christian University stage,” said Rev. Dominique Grate, Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Development. “Her artistry not only sets a beautiful tone for the evening, but her commitment to excellence and community engagement aligns with our university’s values.”

Grayson’s performance will kick off the gala evening, which begins at 7:00 p.m., following the exclusive VIP Reception at 6:00 p.m. The evening will culminate with a live concert by Eddie Levert, legendary lead singer of The O’Jays. The event is expected to draw alumni, donors, and friends of the university from across the country.

Guests can look forward to a full program that includes the presentation of Hall of Fame inductions and Preeminence Awards, honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to Jarvis Christian University and their respective fields.

In addition to her musical success, Grayson is also known for her advocacy work in the areas of music education and youth mentorship, making her an ideal performer for an event that celebrates leadership, philanthropy, and impact.
