News / Natural Grocers and Jack and Jill of America Partner To Create 'Graduation Assistance Program' Fund For HBCU Students

Each year, a number of HBCU students with only one or two semesters left, don't graduate because of small unpaid bills. Jack and Jill, Inc. and Natural Grocers have partnered to create The College GAP (Graduation Assistance Program) Fund to ensure HBCU students graduate.

The criteria states that a student must be close to graduating and in good standing. The student will just need to attend class and the remaining tuition bill will be paid in full! The purpose of the fund is to provide students who attend HBCUs an emergency gift to increase the number of college graduates and to reduce their financial burden.

The Jack and Jill Foundation will start the pilot project with $100,000 to begin paying students tuition debt in the 2019-2020 academic year.

The campaign launched on MLK Day 2020 and will run through the end of Black History Month (Feb. 29, 2020). Also starting on MLK Day Natural Grocers' customers will have the opportunity to make contributions directly to the JJOA Gap Fund at any one of Natural Grocers' 154 store locations. Find a Natural Grocers' store near you.

Donated funds will be dispersed to HBCU students with the greatest need. Click here to donate online.

Join us as we fill in the GAP for students!
