HAWKINS, TX — The energy is rising, the beats are dropping, and the unity of tradition and culture is stepping back into the spotlight at Jarvis Christian University. After a seven-year hiatus, the Homecoming Step Show is making its highly anticipated return on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the E.W. Rand Gymnasium.
This year's event is more than a competition—it's a celebration of history, heritage, and the powerful presence of the Divine Nine on Jarvis Christian University’s campus. Students, alumni, and community members alike are gearing up for a high-energy night filled with synchronized stomps, rhythmic claps, and show-stopping routines from some of the most spirited fraternities and sororities.
The Homecoming Step Show will feature performances by historic Greek-letter organizations representing the National Pan-Hellenic Council, including:
- Zeta Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
- Zeta Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
- Phi Beta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
- Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
- Zeta Delta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
These dynamic student groups will battle it out in front of a packed gymnasium, displaying unity, creativity, and the rich culture of African American Greek life that has long played an important role in the life of the university.
JCU alum "Corn" Dawson will serve as the event’s host, bringing his trademark humor, charisma, and Bulldog pride to the stage. Spinning the soundtrack for the night is another proud JCU alum, DJ Tay, who promises to keep the crowd hyped and energized from the first stomp to the final step.
“The return of the Step Show is symbolic—it represents the resilience and spirit of our students and alumni,” said Mr. William Hampton, Executive Director of Alumni Affairs. “It’s more than a performance—it’s an expression of identity, tradition, and excellence.”
This event marks the first official university-sponsored Step Show since 2018, making its return one of the most anticipated highlights of the 2025 Homecoming weekend. Its reintroduction was part of a larger initiative to revitalize legacy programs and enhance alumni engagement by reconnecting generations of Bulldogs with shared experiences.
General admission is $20, and student tickets with valid ID are $10. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to secure seating and take in the full excitement of this iconic cultural event.
Whether you're a lifelong member of the Greek community, a JCU alum, or a first-time attendee, the 2025 Homecoming Step Show promises a night of unity, excellence, and unforgettable entertainment.
