On Friday, January 3, 2025, Jarvis Christian University hosted its Spring 2025 Faculty and Staff Institute, setting the stage for a semester of growth, collaboration, and renewed purpose. The event, held in the Meyer Auditorium, centered around the inspiring theme, “Lean In, Move Forward, Elevate.” Faculty and staff gathered for a full day of workshops, discussions, and strategic planning aimed at advancing the university’s mission of excellence in education and service.
The institute featured a diverse array of faculty and staff presenters who delivered engaging sessions on topics ranging from innovative teaching methods to student engagement strategies and effective communication. These sessions fostered cross-departmental collaboration and provided attendees with practical tools to enhance their work and better serve the JCU community. The interactive workshops also allowed participants to share best practices, exchange ideas, and build stronger connections within the campus community.
The highlight of the day was the keynote plenary session, delivered by Mr. William Houston, Vice President of the Serrato Corporation. In his dynamic and thought-provoking presentation, titled “The Power of Restorative Practices,” Mr. Houston emphasized the importance of fostering community, resolving conflict, and creating inclusive environments. He shared actionable strategies for building trust and strengthening relationships within organizations, leaving attendees inspired and equipped to implement these practices in their own roles.
President Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt opened the event with an empowering message, stating, "When we lean in together, we can move forward with purpose and elevate our university to new heights." The day concluded with a renewed sense of unity and motivation as faculty and staff departed, armed with tools and strategies to make a meaningful impact on students and the broader community. This institute reaffirmed JCU’s commitment to collective growth and excellence for the Spring 2025 semester and beyond.
