At Jarvis Christian University, Dr. DaMesia Starling exemplifies the essence of dedicated leadership and academic excellence. Currently serving as the interim dean of the Division of Professional Studies, which encompasses business, criminal justice, education, and social work, Dr. Starling plays a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, career-focused educational programs that empower students to succeed in their chosen fields.

Her multifaceted role also includes her position as chair of the Department of Education. Here, she not only oversees curriculum development but also fosters a collaborative environment where faculty and students can thrive. A 2003 alumna from Jarvis Christian University, she is a proud product of the Education Department she now leads. She brings to her leadership role more than two decades of experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district coordinator.

Her commitment to educational excellence is further demonstrated through her work as the director of clinical teaching and field experience as she ensures that students gain invaluable hands-on classroom experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

With her doctorate in education focused on educational leadership, Dr. Starling brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her teaching as an assistant professor of education. Her approach is centered on creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment, where students are encouraged to engage critically with course material and develop the skills necessary for professional success. She is committed to lifelong learning and is currently completing her master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling.

Dr. Starling's passion for education extends beyond the classroom. She is dedicated to mentoring future educators, guiding them in their professional development and helping them navigate the complexities of the education system. Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing the university's mission to provide accessible and impactful education.

In her time at Jarvis Christian University, Dr. Starling has initiated several innovative programs designed to enhance student engagement and success. She believes that education should not only equip students with knowledge but also instill in them the confidence and skills to make a difference in their communities.

As an advocate for social equity in education, Dr. Starling actively participates in various community outreach initiatives. Her work emphasizes the importance of serving diverse populations and addressing the unique challenges faced by underrepresented groups.

Her commitment to high-quality, career-focused education is evident in all her endeavors. As she leads the Division of Professional Studies, she continues to inspire both her students and colleagues, fostering a culture of excellence and dedication at Jarvis Christian University.
