Jarvis Christian University will host a Voter Education and Civic Engagement Forum at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 17, 2024, in the Fellowship Hall of the Smith-Howard Chapel to listen to local community leaders on the significance of voting, civic responsibility, and real applications. Local high school student body leaders and the public are invited.
JCU President Dr. Glenell M. Lee-Pruit will moderate the panel discussion. Scheduled participants are Wood County Judge Kevin White, Precinct 2 Rains County Justice of the Peace Jenkins Franklin, Precinct 3 Wood County Justice of the Peace Janae Holland, Big Sandy Mayor Linda Baggett, Hawkins City Councilwoman Clara Kay, Hawkins Mayor Deb Rushing, Mineola Mayor Jayne Lankford, and Wood County Elections Board Chair Dr. Judy Traylor. Refreshments will be served.
