Jarvis Christian University students, faculty, staff, and members of the public will hear from the curator of the East Texas African American Museum, the Rev. Rodney Atkins, during the 2024 Black History Month chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feburary 27, in the the Smith-Howard Chapel.
In a presentation titled “Transformation: Pivoting from Excellence to Preeminence—The Journey Continues,” Atkins will discuss the United States Constitution and how it applies to life today. The event is free and open to the public.
Atkins is the director of the JCU Olin Library and the curator of the museum located on the basement floor of the library. He oversees a wide collection of vintage books by African American authors, as well as historical memorabilia on lifestyles and athletics involving talented African Americans.
