Jarvis Christian University has a slate of exciting activities to celebrate the 112th Founders Homecoming, including the inauguration of JCU’s new president on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The public is invited. All activities take place on the JCU main campus at U.S. Hwy. 80 and PR 7631 in Hawkins, Texas.
JCU Founders Homecoming Week is Monday, March 18 through Sunday, March 24. Public activities begin Tuesday, March 19, with the J.N. Ervin Founders Convocation at 11 a.m. in the Smith-Howard Chapel featuring JCU Trustee the Rev. Dani Cartwright.
The following evening, the JCU Student Ministry Association will host a Pre-Investiture Worship Service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, in the Smith-Howard Chapel.
The Investiture of Dr. Glenell M. Lee-Pruitt as the 13th president of Jarvis Christian University will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, in the varsity gymnasium in the E. W. Rand Center. Lee-Pruitt took office on July 1. An Investiture Celebration Luncheon will immediately follow the investiture ceremony.
“An Evening with Madame President” will feature a reception at 6 p.m. and a concert at 7 p.m. in the Charles A. Meyer Science and Mathematics Center Auditorium, hosted by professional comedian Shed G and featuring musical entertainment by the Alter Ego Band. The event is free and open to the public.
On Friday, March 22, registration for alumni will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Smith-Howard Chapel Fellowship Hall by the Jarvis Christian University National Alumni Association.
The annual Pioneer Hall of Fame and Preeminence Awards Gala will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, March 22, in the E. W. Rand Center varsity gymnasium, followed by entertainment by Shed G and the Alter Ego Band in concert at 9 p.m. Corporate sponsorships range in price from $1,000 to more than $25,000 and can be purchased by calling the Advancement Office at (903) 730-4890 extension 3003. Proceeds benefit Jarvis student scholarships. Individual tickets to the formal event are $100 per person for general seating and are available for purchase at www.jarvis.edu.
Saturday, March 23, will be a day-long tailgating celebration at the Ida Van Zandt Jarvis Student Center Front Lawn beginning at 8 a.m. The event will feature a Reunion Village and a Vendor’s Bazaar. From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. the Jarvis Homecoming Festival will take place at the Front Lawn. Parking is $15 per car. Entry to the Homecoming Festival is $10 per person. The JCU National Alumni Association Plenary Meeting will be at 10 a.m. in the Meyer Auditorium, followed by a National Alumni Association President's Luncheon in the Dining Hall of the Ida Van Zandt Jarvis Student Center at noon.
