Jarvis Christian University students who have been conducting biological research during their eight-week internships this summer presented their research Thursday, July 25. The students shared what they learned and their plans for future research. 2024 Jarvis graduate Patricia Soto helped students in the laboratory. The research was overseen by JCU faculty members Dr. Shakhawat Bhuiyan, Dr. Glendora Carter, Dr. Antoineshia Hollman, Dr. Widodo Samyona, and Dr. Yefer Suarez, along with visiting profesor Dr. Kenie Moses of Southern University of Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA).
- Daniel Obi, who attends the University of Houston, presented research titled An Analysis of Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles using Bitter Leaf Extract as a Viable Candidate for Cancer Research.
- Derrick Rhodes, II, a JCU student, presented research titled A Green Synthesis Analysis of Gold Nanoparticles Utilizing Dragon Fruit Extract as a Beneficial Candidate for Breast Cancer Research.
- Tamara Beasley, a JCU student, presented research titled An Analysis of Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Utilizing Moringa Leaf Extract as a Beneficial Candidate for Cancer Research.
- Briana Adeoye, a JCU student, presented research titled The Effects of Cinnamon Green Synthesized Silver Nanoparticles as a Beneficial Candidate for Anti-Cancer Research.
- Diamond Vaughn, a JCU student, presented research titled Analysis of Anti-proliferative Effects of Mustard Seed Extract Against Breast Cancer Cells.
- Allison Owens, a student at SUSLA, presented research titled Research Wearable Technology and How Body Temperature Can Power the Use of that Technology.
- Caleb Mitchell, a JCU student, presented research titled Mathematical Modeling with Modified Exponential Model for Breast Cancer Growth.
- Billy Swanson, a JCU student, presented research titled Data Modeling with Python for Breast Cancer Growth.
