Jarvis Christian University participated in National Voter Registration Day Tuesday, September 17, with a voter registration drive on campus from 12 to 2 p.m. to encourage students to become registered voters to exercise their civic responsibility by voting in the November 5 general election.

The last day to register to vote is Monday, October 7, 2024.

The first day of early voting by personal appearance is Monday, October 21, 2024.

The last day of early voting by personal appearance is Friday, November 1, 2024.

The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is Friday, October, 25, 2024.

The last day for a county to receive a mailed ballot is Tuesday, November 5, 2024 or Wednesday, November 6, 2024 if postmarked.

“Getting registered to vote is just the first step in getting #VoteReady!” said JCU Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Kishia C. James.

On Tuesday, September 17, JCU also welcomed Dr. Michael W. Waters, lead pastor of the Abundant Life African Methodist Episcopal Church in Dallas, to campus Tuesday to participate in a voter registration drive.

“It is so important that everyone eligible to vote casts a vote,” Waters said. “In the last election, nine million registered voters in Texas did not vote.  Can you imagine the impact of nine million voters had they voted their conscience for the candidates of their choice?”

Waters expressed gratitude for Jarvis teaching college students about the value of their opportunity to vote.

“We’ve had a number of individuals who have registered just today,” he said. I applaud this university. I thank you for your commitment to the vote.”
