Hawkins, TX – March 3, 2025 – Jarvis Christian University (JCU) is proud to announce the launch of its Broadband Training Program - 5-Day Fiber Optic Bootcamp, a workforce development initiative in partnership with Learning Alliance Corporation (LAC) in collaboration with T3 Creators Collective. This program is designed to equip participants with the essential skills needed to pursue careers in the rapidly expanding telecommunications and broadband industries.
The comprehensive training program will provide hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, testing, and maintenance, ensuring that graduates are prepared for high-demand jobs in the field. Through this initiative, JCU aims to enhance long-term employment opportunities for its certificate program students and local community members, particularly those from underrepresented populations such as women, veterans, and minorities.
Program Details
Duration: 5 Days (with an additional 104 hours of virtual education)
Location: Jarvis Christian University Dallas Teaching Site
Cohort Size: 14 students per class
The course covers key industry topics, including:
- Fiber Optics Fundamentals: Safety standards, theory, and applications
- Fiber Splicing: Fusion and mechanical splicing techniques
- Fiber Testing: OTDR principles, fault location, and hands-on testing
- Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optics: Installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Advanced Fiber Optic Technologies: Cable management, enclosures, and in-depth troubleshooting
Certification and Career Placement
Upon successful completion, participants will receive an industry-recognized certification in fiber optic technology. Additionally, LAC’s placement department will assist students in connecting with employers who are hiring and provide pathways to continuing education and registered apprenticeship programs.

The program is made possible through funding from the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) and other workforce development resources, ensuring accessibility for eligible candidates. We are enrolling now for eligible candidates.
