HAWKINS, TX – April 11, 2025 – The Jarvis Christian University Gospel Choir will travel to Monroe, Louisiana, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, to minister in music at Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church during its Palm Sunday worship service. The service, which begins at 10:30 a.m., will be led by none other than the church’s pastor—Jarvis Christian University Interim Provost, Dr. Regina S. Robinson.

Dr. Robinson, who serves both as a spiritual and academic leader, will welcome the JCU Gospel Choir to her pulpit for what promises to be a powerful celebration marking the beginning of Holy Week. The moment is especially meaningful as it represents a full-circle connection between her ministry and her leadership at Jarvis Christian University.

“It brings me great joy to bring my two worlds together in this sacred moment,” said Dr. Robinson. “Palm Sunday represents renewal, hope, and the triumph of love and justice. To have our students lead worship through music at Allen Chapel AME is a blessing for our congregation and a testimony to the faith-filled mission of Jarvis Christian University.”

The JCU Gospel Choir, known for its soul-stirring performances and spiritual intensity, will offer a selection of gospel music, spirituals, and contemporary worship that underscores the Palm Sunday theme of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The choir’s presence not only enriches the service but also highlights Jarvis Christian University's ongoing commitment to spiritual development, cultural expression, and community engagement.

Located at 1300 Oak Street in Monroe, Allen Chapel AME Church has long been a beacon of faith and service in the local community. Under the leadership of Dr. Robinson, the church continues to grow as a center of worship, teaching, and outreach. This Palm Sunday service promises to unite members, visitors, and guests in a morning of praise, reflection, and celebration.

The partnership between Jarvis Christian University and Allen Chapel AME Church exemplifies the university’s commitment to building strong connections within the communities it serves—especially when those connections are rooted in leadership, faith, and shared purpose.

All are welcome to attend the Palm Sunday service and experience firsthand the powerful musical ministry of the JCU Gospel Choir and the heartfelt preaching of Dr. Regina S. Robinson.
