Jarvis Christian University announces the Rev. Dr. B. Sherrance Russell as the university’s new assistant vice president of Enrollment Management & Retention. Russell has more than 25 years of service in higher education in student affairs and enrollment management.
An Austin, Texas, native, Russell earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in General Business focusing on Management from Texas Southern University in 1993. His Master of Education degree focused on Urban Education came from Langston University in 1999. He received his license in ministry in 1999 and was ordained by the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where he served as pastor of Jones Temple C.M.E. Church. He is a 2006 graduate of the Urban Higher Education Executive Ph.D. Program at Jackson State University, where he was a member of the inaugural cohort.
He has served at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri; Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina; Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio; and Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas, where he launched a new degree program for working adults. He is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and served as Chief of Staff for the organization’s 22nd Southwestern Regional Vice President.
